This weekend was an adventure! While what seems like my entire family was in Southern Pines, NC; I needed to distract myself from the fact that I couldn't be there to see everyone. On Friday night I went with a friend to the drive in movie theater to watch Angels & Demons. It was pretty hot during the day but we put the seats down in the Subaru and watched from the back of the car and enjoyed a merciful breeze. Saturday I went on a canoeing and kayaking trip with some people from work- the secretary (Carrie) in my office and her husband and child, one of our student workers, and the adventure coordinator from UREC. We got two canoes and a kayak and went to the Green River in Kentucky to Mammoth Cave National Park. We spent the afternoon on the water and brought coolers with our lunches. While I was taking my turn in the kayak, Austin (Carrie's son) wanted to try out the kayak, so I pulled him into the kayak with me and showed him how to paddle. We had a great time and no one got too badly sunburned!
