Wedding Weekend!

My duties as maid of honor came to a close this weekend as my best friend got married on Saturday afternoon. I flew down to Wilmington, NC on thursday night after work and arrived around 11 30 pm on the beach. Dawn (the bride) and Zach (the groom) picked me up and there was much squealing as we were reunited on this happy occasion. Friday morning we were up early as his ENTIRE family were at the house to start the day. All the ladies went to get manicures and then Dawn and I and his ENTIRE family went out to lunch at Red Robin. After lunch Dawn was getting very nervous about the big day and so we took some deep breaths and then drove out the church which is in Lake Waccamaw, NC. We made it through the reherseal of the ceremony with a couple slip ups here and there (for example: its "I do" not "I will"). ha ha and she and her father speed walking down the aisle.
Our next stop directly after the reheresal was the rehersal dinner which was on the coast at a fabulous seafood restaurant where they had their first date. We had tuna bites, calamari, and shrimp for appetizers and I had some tuna for my entree' (guilty for eating tuna again, but it was soo good).  We finally made it back to Dawn's parents house (which is on Lake Waccamaw and its absolutely adorable with a dock and two hammocks to top it off).
Dawn was exhausted mentally and physically and went to bed around 11 30 to get her beauty sleep, while I stayed out on the hammock to enjoy the sounds of the waves hitting the dock. The next morning at 7 30 a.m. Dawn bolts out of bed and says "Its my wedding day!" So we had some a beautiful breakfast on the upstairs porch of french toast, fresh strawberries, and mamosas. After that we hopped in our bathing suits and went kayaking to keep her nerves at bay.
The rest of the morning flew by! Next thing we knew we were showered, make uped, hair done, and on our way to the church! It all happened so quickly! The flower girl was adorable, she ended up scooping the petals out of the basket and sprinkling them around her in a circle as she moved down the aisle. The ceremony went off without a hitch and the reception was simple and chic. I don't know how I could ever top that wedding it was stunning and simple and elegant. And the bridesmaid dresses were soo pretty!
