Rain Rain Go Away

Rain Rain Rain! I have been through the ringer of the middle TN spring this past week. It has rained non stop this past week everyday. I got a sinus infection from the weather, and so was conjested and stuffy nosed, and had an ear ache all week. Joy! So much fun. On Friday we were under a tornado warning, and the tornado was very close to campus, so we were all sent down into the building's basement to ride out the storm. So I spent an hour of my Friday in the university center basement with the ladies from my office as well as the dean of students and the associate vice president. Talk about terrifying on many levels! We had a television down there and so we were able to watch as the tornado made its way past campus and towards my apartment! I didn't see any terrible damage though on the drive home. Friday night I was watching TV when I noticed the same storm was heading towards Fancy Gap, VA where Mom and Dad happened to be for the weekend! I called Mom to warn her, but she did not even remeber my call and went right back to sleep. The next morning she and dad woke up to find out that a tornado had come right past I- 77 which they can see from their porch up there!
Friday and Saturday we had major flooding and I became very grateful for living on the second floor of the apartment building. The people below me had their porches flooded. I pretty much stayed inside all weekend as it was raining and flooding and I was not feeling well.
Saturday night I went out to the local winery where they have a event called "Jazz on the Lawn" where families bring blankets and picnics and sit under the trees and listen to live music and the winery sells bottles of wine. It was a fun night and I look forward to more Saturday nights like it.
Sunday included more sleeping and some pizza making! I made some pizza crust from scratch and then had three friends come over and we made two massive pizzas topped with mozzerla, artichoke hearts, grilled chicken, feta cheese, onions, garlic, and a homemade pizza sauce. They stayed late into the night as we ate and ate and then ate some more. Getting up for work this morning was so hard! This upcoming week promises more rain and some mild temperatures, I am ready for some hot summer weather already! This town needs to dry out!
