Moving is difficult. My parents and I arrived in Clarksville on a Sunday night, and by Tuesday had started moving me in to my new apartment. Monday was a blurred nightmare of driving all over clarksville (thank you to the creator of the GPS) and looking at apartments and townhomes. Tuesday we made the rounds and talked to some leasing agents, and I signed my lease on a two bedroom apartment. Of course the weather was freezing and raining for 9 1/2 hour drive from NC to TN - and for our first three days in town, but by my move in day the sun decided to show its face. Getting all the furniture up to my second floor apartment was a challenge in more ways than one - but thanks to some physics and some rope, everything made it up the stairs. I spent the first night in my new home on the couch, as I so graciously gave my parents my bed. We spent our first evening cooking dinner and watching the Gilmore Girls on dvd.
I spent the following day running from office building to office building to get my electricity, water, cable, and internet hooked up. I learned all sorts of interesting things about the people I sat next to in these offices, like a young guy who was trying to set up electricity for him and his wife - but he couldn't remember her birthday to fill out the forms. Yikes.
Mom and Dad left on Thursday afternoon, and after I dropped them off at the Nashville airport - I went to visit Laura, one of my best friends from college who works in PR in Nashville. I got all turned around in the "big city of Nashville" (there is only so much a GPS can do for the directionally challenged), and I ended up getting a parking ticket. We went out to local hang out and had dinner. I didn't realize TN was such a conservative state, at the diner I ordered a liberal salad: filled with fruits and nuts. Good Times.
Scott came to visit me on Friday and we went to pick out a carpet for the living room and got my wireless internet set up. Tomorrow we are heading out to Nashville for a night on the town with Laura to see the honky tonks and famous country singer bars. I will be on the look out for some famous singers!
