6 hour drive

I noticed that my car needs to be inspected by the end of January, so I decided to drive back to NC to get the inspection and Scott and I could spend sometime with his family in Boone, NC. So after work on Friday, we drove the 6 1/2 hours to cross the NC-TN border into Boone. It was around 1:30 am by the time we got there- a very long drive. Saturday morning I got to sleep in, and then visit all of my favorite places in Boone. We went to the Mast General Store where I bought myself a new black fleece jacket (40% off) for my birthday and we went to my favorite antique shop where I bought a unique business card holder for my office. I found two that I really liked, so I bought them both (a bit of a splurge, but why not?). We went back to Scott's house for lunch to find two young college girls and their parents talking to his parents - turns out they were moving in next door and wanted to meet the neighbors. Ahhh reminds me of just three weeks ago when my parents were going through the stress of helping me find a place to live that met THEIR standards. So glad that is over.  Scott's parents celebrated my birthday over a yummy dinner of my favorite pizza in Boone - Mellow Mushroom and I got my own special Alex sized pineapple pizza.
One of the reasons that we drove to Boone was to get the car inspected - so I took the car to the station and it failed inspection due to my "check engine"light that was on in my dashboard. I have been driving my car for 10 years and that check engine light pops on and off every couple weeks - no big deal. BUT apparently now it was causing me to fail my inspection.
On sunday it was my turn to drive, and we drove the 6 1/2 hours back to Clarksville (it takes less time when I drive because I don't stop the car every hour for food, like Scott does). I had gotten the latest Sookie Stackhouse book on tap (thanks clarksville library with their 7,000 audiobooks). I was just about 30 miles into Tennessee when my check engine light went off in my car. I was less than thrilled with how that all played out because now I will need to make the drive all over again in the near future.
Excitingly enough, the weatherman promises a big ice storm in clarksville! Everyone at work was talking about (hopefully) having the day off tomorrow due to ice.  We will see what the weather looks like when I wake up tomorrow. *fingers crossed* that I get the day off and can make some curtains with the new fabric I bought for my apartment.
