Work keeps marching on

We realize of course, that with a newborn in the house, the number of projects we are working on will come to standstill. Also school starts at the end of the month and our lives get very hectic once again.
So our last big projects are happening in a mad rush to finish before baby arrives. We realized that we only have 3 more weekends before baby comes... Yikes! A couple weekends ago Jasin's parents came down to help with some wiring and  installing a door plus some surprise painting. We replaced the backdoor to the house that leads to our mudroom with a door we had made in town to
Fit our odd shapes door opening. Jasin and his dad spent two days rewiring the mudroom, taking out a door and replacing it, plus insulating the mudroom. Whew! There was also the idea I saw on Pinterest about painting stripes on a wall using different finishes of paint. So Jasin and his dad measured out and taped the stripes and everyone but me pitched in to paint it. I will say it looks pretty cool. Jasin thought it was dumb until he saw the finished product! Ye of little faith!
The next big project was moving all of our furniture off our hardwood floors so they could be refinished. This took a week and we all had to stay with friends during that time - which meant we couldn't work on any house projects either. The floors look great, and within 10 minutes of admiring them, kelty dug her claws into them and left big scratches. So off we went to purchase some huge area rugs to protect them from puppy claws.
This weekend the mudroom finally got drywall put up, taped, and mudded! Quarter round was put back down in our hallway and the nursery. Tomorrow the trim gets painted and a final coat of mud goes on our new drywall. Jasin has been busy busy! Now there is just painting the mudroom, putting up a matching chair rail to our hallway and the built in shoe storage/ bench for the mudroom. We are going to wait until spring before we have our laundry room and mudroom tiled by a professional. Of course the tile pattern I want, Jasin doesn't dare try on his own.
