OBX days 4&5
Hard manual labor has been our reality. We are working with the Jockeys Ridge Reef project - basically we have been creating these bags full of Oysters shells and then building these reefs that slow waves down and help slow the erosion on the beach. Yesterday we cut & tied these wire mesh bags, stretched the bags over giant PVC pipes, shoveled around 330 pounds of oysters into each bag, pulled the PVC pipe out of the bag, tie off the bag and then stack them. Today we did that again for half the day, and then created daisy chains to load pick up trucks an then empty the trucks on the beach to prep for the reef building tomorrow. The oysters stink. Ergo, we stink. We had to go to rite aid and buy febreeze & pain killers.
