Howard Christmas in TN

While I was having a wonderful white Christmas, TN & NC were also having a white Christmas for the first time. This surprise snow delayed Mom, Dad & Trevor a day from coming out to TN. They arrived Tuesday, Dec. 28th in the evening after a long drive on slow icy roads. When they arrived we had a pot of chili with cheddar biscuts waiting for them. We opened presents that evening and had a great gift exchange. Trevor got new climbing shoes and an ipod speaker system from me and a college cookbook for dummies book from Jasin. Dad got the unofficial Harry Potter cookbook, some caramel popcorn, a sweater and a vest that ended up being sized a small even though it was in the LARGE section. Mom got scarf, a Europe calendar from Jasin, a canning via a microwave cookbook. Jasin and I also got them a date night: tickets to the broadway production of the Lion King in Durham and a gift card to P.F. Changs for dinner. Jasin got a new work bag and a new clipper/ hair trimmer set. Pepper and Kelty got yummy treats as well.

Wednesday morning we went to a famous German bakery in town where dad had lots to eat (of course). I spent 4.5 hours cooking on Wednesday making the big Christmas Lamb Dinner. We had an appetizer of brie and cranberries wrapped in cresent rolls and some cider punch that I got from a Taste of Home magazine. The dinner went perfectly, it was my first time using lamb and figs but it was a delicious dinner. We played some bananagrams after dinner and didn't even have room for desert we were so full. Thursday we went back to the German bakery and enjoyed even more yummy food and then mom and I took the dogs to the dog park and went for a long walk. Thursday night we all went to the movies to see the remake of the John Wayne movie "True Grit" which is one of Dad's favorites. The family left Friday morning for the 9 hour drive back to NC and new years eve.
